This Lake Oswego whole house remodel features a farmhouse industrial aesthetic, coupled with a more functional kitchen, master bath, and much more.
Built in 1910, the brick-and-timber building was converted to lofts in 1996. It was time for a refresh for the kitchen, master bath, and one of two gas fireplaces.
The beauty of the natural world provides great design inspiration. This nature-loving Bend family wanted to create an outdoor space to better enjoy their spectacular river view.
Portland Designer Fabian Genovesi had the pleasure of collaborating with a Cedar Mill couple who had a clear vision for how to transform their entire daylight basement into a one-of-a-kind entertainment space.
Creative solutions – and gorgeous colors – are on display in this kitchen and bathroom remodeling project in a 1924 home in Portland’s Alberta neighborhood.
You never know what you’ll find when you start a remodeling project. This 1903 Queen Anne “Vernacular Victorian” was a modest urban farmhouse, untouched for 40 years. The homeowners wanted to bring their home back to its original glory.
If there was a Street of Dreams devoted to bathrooms, this renovated master suite designed by Neil Kelly Design Consultant Mary Miksch, would be a headliner.
Nestled in a beautiful wooded setting on several acres of land, with horses on the horizon, this home features timber and stone throughout the interior and exterior. Outside is a seamless extension of the interior great room where the homeowners can grill dinner or just relax.
Tucked up against the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, this charming woodland home beckoned for warm, earthy materials, especially in the kitchen.

Tub or Shower? “If it turns out the tub is only used for watering house plants, or worse, for the cat box, I say NO! I have learned over the years, there are ‘tub people’ and ‘shower people.'” — Kathleen Donohue, Bend Design Consultant
Small Kitchen Design: “It’s often beneficial to have a mobile surface like a prep table on casters or a table that folds out from the wall.” — Karen Richmond, Portland Design Consultant
Backsplash Tile: “Something about a handmade ceramic tile makes me swoon. The imperfect edges of each tile allow the grout to show off, and the subtle tone variations from tile to tile add character.” — Erika Altenhofen, Portland Design Consultant
Regional Differences: “In California, people are very interested in keeping up with the neighbors and resale value. In the Pacific Northwest, there is a greater attention to craftsmanship that I find really inspiring.” — Jamie Smugeresky, Seattle Design Consultant
